Construction Project Manager Recruitment
The Project Manager is the operational center of every GC — owning the schedule, budget, subcontractor relationships, and client communication. Experienced PMs are in constant demand across every sector and market we serve.
Quick Answer
Construction Project Managers earn $85,000–$150,000 base in 2026, with 3–10+ years of experience typically required. Specialty sectors add premiums: data center +20–30%, healthcare +15–20%, infrastructure +10–15%. Top-paying markets are NYC, Boston, and Seattle; highest-volume markets are Texas and Florida. PMs own the project P&L: preconstruction buyout, schedule, cost control, subcontractor management, RFIs, change orders, client communication, and delivery. Procore, Primavera P6, and Bluebeam fluency are near-universal expectations. The PM-to-Senior-PM transition typically happens around year 7 with $15K–$25K in compensation uplift.

What a Construction PM Does Daily
Construction Project Managers are responsible for the successful delivery of construction projects — on time, on budget, and to specification. A typical day spans both field and office: reviewing submittals and RFIs, running subcontractor coordination meetings, updating the master schedule, managing budget variance, and interfacing with the owner or owner's rep.
At mid-size GCs ($50M–$500M revenue), PMs typically run 1–3 projects simultaneously ranging from $5M to $100M. They own the subcontractor buy-out, change order negotiation, pay application approval, and project closeout including punch list and warranty.
Senior PMs mentor APMs and PEs below them, maintain key client relationships, and often participate in business development by supporting estimates or attending pre-bid meetings.
